It's our first Chinese New Year as a family of 3. While it's unfortunate that Layla's first CNY is a lot less lively than how it usually is, Mama is somewhat grateful that at least there's less traveling, thus making it a lot more manageable and still able to fit her into her schedule and routine.
CNY is so much more meaningful with a little one - rediscovering the importance of our beautiful Chinese culture and traditions. Example, New Year's Money aka Suppressing Money (压岁钱/压祟钱) is said to suppress evil so the little one can spend their first year safely and smoothly. (I feel so adult now that i need to give 压岁钱. For 36 years, i was always only taking it! Haha!)
Also, now that Layla's more aware and wary of faces and places, that also means she's more clingy and less susceptible to letting other people carry her. It's all but a growing process for both her and me. When i hit the bed last night, i felt like i passed out faster than the speed of light. Haha! She must be equally tired, bcause (it's now 615a) she's been asleep since 8pm until now!
What a joy and journey this parenthood is! FTMs, any interesting stories to share?
